5 Keys for Staying Motivated

Perhaps the hardest thing to do on your road to health and weight loss is to stay motivated.  The subject has been studied extensively, and what motivates one person can be very different from what motivates the next person.  However, I have found that there are five keys that can provide everyone with a place to get started:

  1. Write down the most important reasons you want to get healthy or lose weight
  2. Have a weight loss buddy with whom you can plan, exercise, and troubleshoot
  3. Have another person you respect to whom you can report (like your doctor)
  4. Find fun, livable things that can keep you active
  5. Set both short- and long-term (realistic) goals with meaningful rewards
