The "4-Diamond Score" (AKA 4◊Score) is a score, ranging from 0-100, representing the percentage of an item’s calories that come from whole plants (i.e., non-processed plants, all found in the four healthy diamonds of the Nutrition Star). This database is a regularly-expanding work in progress, populated in a grass-roots, boots-on-the-ground, consumer-assisted way. It represents a listing of the 4◊Scores from various packaged products.
One of the two main purposes of the 4◊Score is to simplify the nutrition determination and weight loss process, but a second is to help drive the industry to develop healthier products. For deeper consideration, it can be used in conjunction with other systems such as the Nutri-Score (supported by IARC, the International Agency for Research on Cancer). Note that the 4◊Score does not take into consideration vitamin, salt, additive, or organic content.
Part of the first main purpose is to help you calculate the number of WCal© you consume, with the goal of trying to stay under your WCal© Budget. See the free preview of TLC University's Lesson 1 of SLIM TLC Online for more information.
Until we are able to finish creating our app, this 4◊Score database must be searched by pressing [Ctrl] + [F] on a computer or by scrolling on your mobile device. It is being updated regularly, with the best intentions in mind (to assist you reaching your goals and improve the health of the nation/world); however, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of any of the listings.
You'll notice that most items have a symbol (or two or three), signifying the level of confidence we have in the accuracy of the 4◊Score. ☑ = certified by SLIM TLC; ③ = submitted by a 3rd party but not yet certified by SLIM TLC (3rd-party submissions will soon become available when we release our 4◊Score calculator/worksheet to the public - follow our Facebook page to be kept up-to-date on our plans).
Note: Whole plants, as long as they are prepared without WCal© (i.e., 4◊Score = 100), are not listed (other than as "fruits" or "vegetables," for example), nor are zero-Calorie drinks.
